24 Hours in Seattle - A Mini Travel Guide

Seattle is probably one of my favorite cities... to eat in. While I mostly focus on the food (seriously, it's so good, I don't even remember to take photos of it - I just dig in), I do like to explore and try a new thing or two each trip. I've been on underground tours, and seen the Space Needle; explored Pike Place Market and visited the original Starbucks (and the much newer Reserve Roastery). Here's some of my must visits when you're only in the city for a day.

The Seattle Art Museum

When I first went to Seattle since moving to Vancouver last year, I randomly stumbled upon the Art Musuem in downtown, thanks to all the advertising for the Yayoi Kasuma exhibit. Needless to say, you can't randomly walk in and expect to be able to see her work - her tickets sell out FAST. This year, I saw this gorgeous ceiling while walking by, and immediately had to check it out. Best part? It's a free exhibit, which means it makes the perfect photo op.

Downtown Seattle

Wandering around downtown Seattle and you'll find some of the most beautiful buildings. Head to what I like to call the Amazon district, and check out their living building (they even grow cacao in it), or just wander among the character buildings in the shopping area. Every city has it's own version of New York's Flatiron Building, and Seattle is no exception - check out the Mariners Team Store for that quintessential streetstyle shot.

Lady Yum

Will there ever be anything better than a maple bacon macaron? I think not. Lady Yum offers unique flavors (especially their monthly specials) and some pretty unique decor and wallpapers. Come for the photo, stay for the sugar.

Pike Place

Can't go to Seattle without visiting Pike Place and grabbing a snack.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Take a seat at The London Plane in Pioneer Square for a beautiful and delicious brunch, then head to Kastoori Grill by Pike Place for momos and curry. Finish with dinner in Capitol Hill - Stateside is my current interior decor obsession, and their duck wraps are to die for. If you're a true foodie in the are, go to Stateside for cocktails and appetizers, than walk over to Kedai Makan for a homestyle Malaysian meal.
Honorable mention goes to Brother Joe in Georgetown. Delicious brunch, but a bit out of the way. Georgetown is super cool, and the oldest neighbourhood in Seattle.
