Favourite Trends of Haute Couture 2015

The haute couture shows are an amazing display of craftsmanship and creativity, and this year was no exception. They're my favourite shows to just look at, and ooh and ah over. While I don't normally look for similarities between the designers' collections, I couldn't help but notice an abundance of floral inspiration in each show. I'll definitely be incorporating more pinks and greens of all shades in my wardrobe this spring (which coincides with my winter palette of choice this year as well).

Floral
As I mentioned above, I think every designer included at least one floral inspired design in their collections, Versace being the exception.  Chanel took it to the extreme with floral appliqués on full skirts, bolero jackets and hats, while Dior's take was retro-inspired silhouettes with printed raincoats.

Graphic Lines
Bold graphics were seen in the Dior show with their knitted bodysuits, but I think Donatella Versace did it best with her cutout dresses. Their was something for everyone in her collection, with subtly sexy curves, and more Rihanna-esque sheer dresses. Like Dior, there was a very retro feel to her collection.

Sheer
Always a favourite trend of mine, sheer was seen in a subtle manner on the haute couture runways. Chiffons and organza fabrics make for a hint of sexiness, while Maison Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier took it almost workwear territory with sharp tailored blazers (you know, if you're in the fashion industry and not a banker).

Fairytale
Finally, romantic, fairytale inspired looks are on trend for evening wear. Valentino paid homage to its Italian roots with renaissance inspired dresses, while Ulyana Sergeenko had a distinctive Alice in Wonderland quality to her collection.
