I love the idea of layering, but to be honest, I'm not the best at it. For awhile, I've been searching for the perfect sweatshirt to layer over dresses and tops – not too bulky, but still has shape, not cropped too high, etc. etc. I found this on sale at Aritzia (my favourite store to get basics from) and it's nearly perfect.

The Trouser
I love a good trouser. They're classic, and the right pair will elongate your legs and make you look taller than your really are.

Investing in Leather Pants
Ahh, the leather pant... something I've obsessed over in the past year. I fell in love after purchasing the best leather leggings ever from Aritizia. They were soft, perfectly form fitting, and had a realistic leather-like texture and finish. Unfortunately, they weren't durable.

All About That Felt
Wool and felt hats are my absolute favourite this season, and my collection is slowly growing. This black ranger hat was my first purchase last year, and quickly grew to be a favourite during the cooler weather.

Wearing Shorts to Work
Shorts can be both professional and casual, depending on how you wear them. Slightly longer and cuffed, with a pair of tights for some added modesty (and warmth... mostly warmth) is my preferred way to wear shorts to casual meetings.

Winter Skin Saviors
It's winter and you know what that means. Dry, irritated and possibly wind burnt skin from days skiing and hiking in the mountains.
With the change of seasons, a change in skincare is called for. Our skin condition changes given the weather, and in the winter, we're more prone to dryness, dehydration, and irritation – especially if you're living in a winter desert (hey Calgary).

Studded Berry
Hello winter chinook! I'm taking advantage of the warm weather for the next day or two to get out and about without the need for a jacket. Well, at least no need as long as you aren't outside for more than 10 minutes.

The Parka
Happy New Year! I'm welcoming 2015 in with a couple of winter staples – the parka and the felt hat. While I'm wearing staples, the new year is all about... well, the new, so I also decided to wear a few pieces that haven't been getting much attention in my closet for an easy, laid back look.
Boyfriend jeans are one of those trends I loved, but just fail at styling. They make me look squat, and I favour them with daintier, more feminine pieces. In other words, I haven't figured out how to wear them when it's cold and all I want to do is layer up. So I took to my closet and made a mess trying things on. Initially I was worried wearing this sweatshirt would make the silhouette too boxy, given that the Josefinas are way to big for me (I seriously recommend sizing down in these if you aren't able to try them on), but once I paired it with slim wedge boots, everything seemed to work. Who cares if I look lame once I get home and take my boots off. A synched waist on the parka also helps define the silhouette and keep everything from looking dowdy. Add my new favourite hat, and we're good to go!
