While I'm not in school anymore (hello graduate life!), when I saw this Zara skirt on sale I knew it would be the perfect life transitional piece. Life is always changing, and I'm headed on a new road (I hope!). For the last 17 years September has marked the beginning of a new school year, without fail. But this is the first September where I won't be going back to school, and how bittersweet it is! While I'm happy to have finally graduated, I'm also sad to leave the student life behind. There's something so comforting about walking into a new class to discover a new interest or meet new friends. But graduation is just a new step in life, and hopefully I'll be on a new adventure soon enough.

Transitional pieces like this skirt are an integral part of any girl's wardrobe. They save you from three outfit changes a day, and can be dressed up and down. The frilled hem adds a bit of feminine structure perfect for my less conservative communications job, while the shorter length makes a polished, yet casual look to go to school in or to grab coffee with a new friend. A dolman button down and lace up sandals complete the casual chic look.

What are your favourite pieces to take you everywhere?

H&M shirt
Zara skirt (old)(loving this and this as well)
Aldo sandals
Botkier bag
Michael Kors watch, Urban Outfitters rings (similar here and here)
