Hello Spring, good bye winter! And hello radiant orchid, Pantone's colour of the year! I'll probably jinx myself, but I think we've finally made it out of the -20s and 30s and into some decent, not so cold weather. I don't know about you, but I hate cold weather – it's so difficult for me to warm up again, and I end up living in my house bundled up in multiple sweaters. I am not a fashionable snowman.
I'm in love with Pantone's colour of the year. Radiant orchid is the perfect everyday shade (or shades) of purple that is neither too warm nor too cool. Whether you decide to try out the trend via fashion or makeup, you'll be able to find something to suit your skin tone (unlike last year's emerald, which was harder to pull off, for me at least).
Not only does this shade work for a variety of skin tones (so that I don't need to worry about my shirt washing me out), but it also works with a variety of colours. I paired it with my spring favourites - pastels. Doesn't this lemon yellow and turquoise scream spring?
Does anyone else have an obsession for sheer tops and pastels during the spring?
I chose a pair of Enzo Angiolini shoes that were nearly the exact shade of purple Pantone picked, although the lighting in these photos make them seem a bit on the fuchsia side. For my lips, I applied Revlon's lip butter in Lollipop to the centre of my lips, and sheered it out a bit with my finger for just a hint of purple.
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini (old, similar here)
Purse: Botkier
