Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Sorry for the hiatus again, it's been cold! Much to cold for a wimp like me to take off her jacket and shoot photos. Sorry, sorry.
With Valentine's Day being today, I totally plan on binging on chocolate, ice cream, and chick flicks with a few friends of mine. What better way to celebrate, right? (Okay, I'm totally forcing the chick flicks on a few of my guy friends, that's the real fun, right there.)
So, what do you wear to a first date, whether it's Valentine's or not? I like to keep things simple. Often, if it's a blind date, you don't exactly know what might be being planned – dinner? Drinks? A movie? Clubbing? Hell, even if you're significant other has planned something, it might be a surprise. What's a girl to do?! Dress for every possible outcome of course!
This is where keeping things simple is key – you don't want to be over-dressed or under-dressed. Here, I went for a classic, yet sexy look that could carry me anywhere (okay, obviously it's not going to carry me to a formal event, but you get my drift). I paired my favourite leather pants with a loose tank from the Isabel Marant pour H&M collection. While a pair of pants and a tank top is pretty casual, I felt like the leather helps to dress everything up, or at least make it more edgy than a pair of jeans would. I also chose these studded BCBGeneration flats to complete the look and add to the edgy factor. This outfit is neither too girly (which I'm prone to do) nor too intimidating in anyway. I think a first date look should always be "you," so never wear anything I wouldn't wear something I wouldn't put together for myself normally.
Everyone knows I love a good sheer top. The linen Isabel Marant pour H&M tops all had that perfect not quite sheer, but not fully opaque quality to them. I only wish I had more!
I chose a simple bracelet and a few midi rings as accessories to make sure everything was clean and simple. As much as I love a ton of necklaces and bracelets and rings, for me, a first date should be classy and elegant. As Coco Chanel said, "Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance."
